INTA 2022 Brenda Matanga

After taking a two year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in-person meetings are back again and we are excited about these developments. Thanks to science and medicine, the vaccines have given us the comfort to mix and mingle yet again, of course still mindful of the Covid-19 protocols put in place by the World Health Organisation.

BMatanga IP attorneys will be represented by our Head of Practice, Miss Brenda Matanga at this year’s INTA Annual meeting in Washington DC. We are also pleased to announce that she is on the line up of speakers this year, representing Zimbabwe in one of the Regional Updates panels, a huge career milestone and an absolute privilege, we are really excited to be part of this global event. IP practitioners know that INTA is the biggest IP stage in the profession and being given an opportunity to speak at the main event is such a big deal. INTA is a global association of brand owners and professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and complementary intellectual property (IP) to foster consumer trust, economic growth, and innovation, and committed to building a better society through brands.

Founded in 1878 by 17 merchants and manufacturers who saw a need for an organization “to protect and promote the rights of trademark owners, to secure useful legislation, and to give aid and encouragement to all efforts for the advancement and observance of trademark rights.” Since then, it has grown into a global community, with members around the world and offices in multiple regions. Its membership comprises nearly 6,500 organizations from 185 countries. The organizations represent more than 34,350 professionals, including brand owners from major corporations, small- and medium-sized enterprises, law firms, and non-profits. The community also includes government agency members, professors, and law students.

BMatanga IP Attorneys has, since 2012 been a member of this prestigious organization and has participated in a number of these annual meetings over the years. Miss Matanga has served in INTA committees, including the Unreal Campaign and the Brands for a better society. Recently she was invited by INTA’s Africa Global Advisory Council to serve as a committee member for the 2022-2023 term. Passionate about improving the intellectual property landscape in the continent, she is a great fit in that team. We can only wish her well!

Send an email to [email protected] if you wish to meet her in DC.
